My husband and I used to do craft shows. We never had much luck until we started doing art shows. People don't want to pay anything at the craft fairs. Much better luck with art shows. People are more willing to pay for the time and talent it takes to make something.

It's a fact that most handmade crafts are indeed works of art. When something is handmade, it is sure to be a one-of-a-kind with not another one like it in the whole world. That constitutes art. Everything I make contains a part of me and sometimes it is really hard to part with it. I do a lot of charity sewing and anything I make to give away is made as though I were making it for myself. It's obvious that everyone here feels the same way.

Hi Bity39. Years ago I made flower covered straw picture hats for doors. Every color, ribbons and looked great. I know that because everyone at the flea market told me they were beautiful! Too bad I didn't sell ANY--even after I cut my price to just cover costs :)--live and learn. People want hand crafted item, they just don't want to pay for them.I thought I had a winner because I sold several at work and such. But I wasn't sad because I gave them as gifts to friends. They said they Loved them.
