That is really a cute idea, but I was also taught to put the spoon on the outside of the knife.

I always put the knife next to the plate and the spoon on the outside. Have been doing it wrong for 30 years? :-0

except technically, the knife goes closest to the plate, with the blade pointing outwards; then the teaspoon. :-D

You are correct- the knife goes next to the plate, however, the blade should be next to the plate. To clear up all of the misnderstandings, google correct table setting procedure.

Not to be critical, because this is really neat, but that is what I was taught too.

Love the placemat! Nice idea for children. I also learned that the knife is on the right beside the plate and the spoon beside it. But come on sewers and quilters, do you really set your table like this? I learned to do it that way, but I always put my silverware on the right of the plate. Easier to get to! Ha! Ha! lol Doesn't really matter at my house! Only have the children in with their families. And they put their silverware in the same place that mother does!!
