I have a friend that sewed over needles all the time. It cost her plenty when she bent the shaft and messed up the timing on her Bernina. I think she is more careful now. I know I am after her problem. Happy sewing!!!!

Although I haven't done so. But I have in fact "stapled" myself to a piece of furniture before. I was in my shop working, shot myself in the thumb and have the pliers were just out of reach. My son heard me yelling and set me free........lol
I had to go to my private doctor for a shot.

Well, don't feel alone, I did that once too. The pin was hiding near a seam intersection...guess I forgot to remove it at the right time. Did exactly the same thing and while sewing over the intersection, I thought "why does this feel so thick right here?" Yikes. Don't think it hurt the machine 'cause it just went through the plastic, but I did change the needle!

Thanks for the reminder to be more careful. I was taught that it was ok to sew over pins, --but that was when the Dinosaurs roamed the earth and those sewing machines could be instruments of torture.
I don't need pins to get a wadded up mess that screws up the timing on my machine!! It's just a gift I have.

I die sew into finger nail and the machine needle broke off with the head of machine needle with thread still attached. I I had to reverse the machine and pullthe thread out of my nail The head of needle stayed in on an angle. It was the most horrible painh to be in worst than my broken arm needless to say I had to go into surgery to get head out. The finger nail still splits where it hit!!!! So plesae watch out its a pain I NEVER want again.
