OK, I bite. I can see that a Yooper would be one from the UP as we called it in the old days when I lived in Mich. Ya, that was how it was abbreviated in the old days when I lived in the state. But where did the troll come from? Does it mean LP?

Now I get it!!! (dumb me!!!) I wasn't thinking of the bridge. I'm old enough to remember when it was being built!! I still use my hand to tell people where I used to live in MI. Now it's down the wrist a bit (IN). I guess that I'm a Hoosier now, but there's not just one good answer to how the people in IN got that name, just a lot of different ones.
