Have both a Dyson and an Oreck. I like the Oreck better

I totally agree with you about the Dyson vacuum cleaners. I had an Oreck and I threw it away after a year.

I love my Oreck. It is very lightweight and manouverable (sp?) yet powerful.

Think its like the sewing machines; each loves their own. We got a Rainbow and love it. Would not buy anything else. Cleans the air and refreshes it; we use it for that reason many times...also to clean the floors...no carpet in our house!!!

After going thru a new vacuum about every 1 -2 years, several years ago we were doing a little remodeling and decided to install a 'whole house' vacuum system (Beam)...I love it!! The canister is in the garage thus much of the noise. We have had almost no problem, except replacing a belt on the carpet head, which we would have had to do on the others, IF they had lasted that long. The problem - you have to be able to install it in the space that you have, the pipes are installed in the walls...

We bought a Dyson 28 and love it. Before that bought a Eureka and used it 6 months ( it's like new sitting in the garage.)
