I didn't use a pattern, it's just HST around a 4" finished square, one of the HST's is in half. The corners of each block is the solid red, they combine to make diamonds and that gives the quilt an "on point" look, but it's just blocks. Then I added a striped border.

Way to go! I saw the quilts at the Iowa State Fair this summer and they are fantastic! Kudo's to you for thinking about entering.
