I like the feather fabric! It doesn't have to be fur or even look like fur, it just has to represent fur and the feathers are doing a great job of that.
I tend to be too literal for my own good and can understand you wanting the cat's fur to look just like fur but sometimes the results are even better when things aren't too literal. It's something I struggle with and I envy those who aren't so literal minded.

Here is the next episode of my journey. I took a break while I was waiting for different fabric to arrive and made up some of the cats that will be the border of the picture frame center. They will be one one side and I will dream up something different for the border of the other side. Have quite a few more to make though.
After I looked at the picture it looks like the little sleeping cat looks like a skunk but too late to change now. The big cat is pretty dominant but that's just the way it will be. Still have a few little additions to the yard i.e. flagpole and pathway and then I can put the window pane sashing on this part. Then on to the inside view. I keep the thought in the back of my mind that no matter how it turns out...it will still be warm. Plus, I see that this will be my 2,600 posting. Kind of a milestone. :-)
