LOL - that's how i feel, too!!! I like the 2nd one better, too. And someone used the word "sophisticated" And maybe that's it.

The purple does work, I just like the 2nd one better.

Yes, I would use the purple fabric, it gives the quilt more of a sparkle. The other is fine to but my choice would be to add the purple.
