I would use Yellow or pink! What it really comes down to is what color you really like with the purple. Lay your purple colors next to the colors your considering and just use the color you like the best. It will turn out beautiful.

As always, your quilt, your rules. Traditionally, red is the center square of a log cabin as it represents the heart/hearth of the cabin. There are a variety of reds, you can always audition the different shades to see if any strike your eye. I have also seen "traditional" log cabins with the center square as a yellow to represent the "flames" of the hearth. If you are not making a "traditional" log cabin, there are many colors that go with/contrast with purple.

If you are using the blue-purples the red would go nicely. If you are doing pinky-purples, I would either do a deep purple, a print with purples (maybe the peacock feather look), or a teal/aqua.

I agree about the purple and would use green or yellow.

If you choose to go red, possibly a flame red/orange batik fabric that looks like fire. Many choices on Google.

I'd stick with a red too. There is actually a lot of purple pigment in red if you get the right shade....

Yellow also represented the candle in the cabin. Yellow is also the compliment of purple. Or go with a lime green, or a bright pink~~
