Don't use that as an excuse for not sticking to your diet. Have hard boiled eggs with a little horseradish. Replace 1/2 of your mayo with yogurt if you are making potato salad or coleslaw, no one will know the difference. Remember one serving of protein (meat/poultry) is the size of a deck of cards or the palm of your hand. THE PALM NOT INCLUDING YOUR FINGERS. 1 cup is the size of a fist. These are easy to remember. Have raw veggies and make a dip don't froget to replace 1/2 the mayo or sour cream with yogurt. Don't have an entire slice of cake have only a fork full. Try and eat less, don't stuff your face. Easter is a time to celebrate and rejoice but we could still make healthy choices. This is a life change of healthy eating even on a hoilday.

Carole have self control.........you can do it I know you can.

Well then that is easy going out to dinner........have salad ask for dressing on the side and only put a little on. When they put the dressing on for you it is always about 1/2 cup, probably all the calories you need in a day. Have grilled chicken or fish and steamed veggies. If you have a choice of potatoes or rice go for the potato. I once read when you go out to dinner eat 1/2 of what is served to you and get a doggy bag and bring home the rest for another dinner. I think that is a good rule to follow. OH and go for ice cream for dessert instead of cake, if they have sherbert that is even better. Or skip dessert and have a flavored coffee, it tastes desserty with less calories.

The worst part about holidays for me is cooking--I have to taste everything (prob more that necessary) and then when I clean up I finish bits of this and that. Will definitely (sp?) use healthier foods; just need to tape my mouth shut.
Good luck everyone and Happy Easter.

janRN-I remember reading that if you immediately scrape all the plates into a dirty bowl, it helps to keep from eating the dibs and dabs. Also, ask someone else to put away the leftovers for you in containers you have already prepared. Then you are not quite so tempted. This has worked for me, as I am one to finish the last little bit left in the bowl or on the serving plate. Good luck.
