Yes, they do, I know my son always appreciated the cards that got sent to him at holidays and birthdays in iraq.. I found a ton of them in his belongings.. I knew not any of the people and they were strangers to him...yet wanted to thank a military person.. kindness goes a long ways.

Nice to meet another quilter who honors the wounded with a quilt. You have inspired me to finish another patriotic quilt that is sitting in a box for the American Heroes program here in Washington State. Thanks again!

I don't know how the VA Hospital picks the receipients of the quilts. An AF Colonel I work with did the legwork with the Hospital when I had completed the quilt. The next one (blocks in my original post) will have a Marine Corps insignia appliqued in the center of one of the blocks, so it will go specifically to a Marine. I also have fabric with the insignias for the Army, AF, and Navy for future quilts.
On another note, I received EQ7 today and spent the evening "designing" the next WW quilt (the one I'm currently working on). I have never used the EQ SW and I found it very easy to use and maneuver around. I even scanned in the fabrics.
Thank you all for your responses and dedication to our service men and women.

Thank you. The block pattern is "New Waterwheel" from the QuiltBus website with the "bar" block (center block on outside) rotated 90 degrees and reversed in color. Then I just added sashing with cornerstones, narrow inner border, and wider outer border. I wanted to do red/white/blue in muted old-fashioned tones rather than brights.
