The greatest thing I've ever had (almost) are the two thread catchers my daughter bought for me on Etsy.com. It's so much easier to keep most of the thread off the floor. I have one by my machine and one that goes to the ironing board or cutting table, depending on what I'm doing. Couldn't/wouldn't live without them.

Seam ripper, tweezers, and rotary cutters are notions and tools I can't live without.

I would like the large rectangle ironing board you can put on top of your existing one.

I have a hard time finding Aurifil colors I like and hand needles that does not come in an assortment pack at my LQS.

Besides all the ones that have been named (rotary cutter, etc) I can't live without 2 tools I got in 1974, the summer I worked in a garment factory before starting college. My Gingher nippers and long handled tweezers. Although I learned a lot of handy sewing tricks, I lived for the breaks during that very repetitious job...it was a great incentive to go to college!!

Yes, I want to know, need to know. I have a large
gift certificate for JoAnne's, and waiting for a good
50 percent off. But can't make up my mind what
I do need. Probably a real big self healer cutting mat,
but there are so many other things out there it is
a hard thing to do. Will probably get one paid for,
take it to the car, then return, if I can get my hands
on more than one coupon.

The sewing notion I can't live without are my magnifying glasses! LOL I have a pair at my machine and another next to the recliner for handwork.

The notion I wish I could find is a metal thimble with a deep rim on the top that would fit properly.

O.K. So What's the Steady Betty. You lfolks have access to quilt shops and quilt shows that you get to see the latest things. I'm so far away from a quilt shop and wayyyy to far from quilt shows, so I never know what all is out there. I have found some fantastic stuff from reading this board.
Sorry Granny, but I just wanted to know about this.
I think definitely a variety of rulers especially the square up rulers. I love my different sizes of square rulers, they help so much when making various size blocks, but do carry some of the larger sizes, at least a 12", many places carry 8" and smaller. Seam rippers, rotary cutters, a large selection of blades and mats. Lots of good books for patterns and teaching quilting to newbies.
