Do you make your own cotechino? I can't find it any where.

A heavily seasoned pork sausage.

I have not found it here, but it is made in the foot of a pig or trotter as it is called.

That is what my mom and mother in law always said. You will have good luck the new year if you eat pork.
That's what my mom's family said! We always had"pig-in-a-blanket"(stuffed cabbage). My mom's family was from Hungary, don't know if that's where the superstition came from though.

I think that's great bonding there with father and son. I luv it that they have their own New Years tradition.

Oh My, I have a big container of cabbage rolls in the freezer. Guess that's what we will eat for NY's.
HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

we always have sauerkraut to remind us of how good we have it. My paternal grandma looked in the pantry on New Year's Day 1930 and found 2 cans of sauerkraut, the only food in
the house.
I combine it with beef broth so it tastes better.
Dh also has black eyed peas.

I would love to hear from members that live in other countries about their traditions. We always have a big pot of black eyes with salt pork in it, corn bread and some kind of pork. Might have to start having cabbage too...we need all the luck we can get!!!
