Thank you!
My budget is super-tight, so I didn't buy the pattern or new fabrics. I had seen a quilt like it before and made note of the name. Then I Googled "Exploding Star" quilt and found a photo. If you cut the quilt down through the center and across the middle you can see how each quarter consists of 4 blocks. (Each block is 9 fabric squares by 9 fabric squares) I copied a grid into my computer's "Paint" program and then drew the star pattern of one of the quarters onto it. I think the real pattern cuts off the stars and has different corner blocks, but I wanted to finish off my star's points and fill the corners with more prints.

I'm attaching a sample of how I draw patterns out so you can tell what I'm talking about. This isn't the real pattern, just an example of what I do when planning a project.

Great work. I haven't worked up the courage to do one of these yet.

I also like that you can look at it and remember your grandmother. That will make this quilt a treasure to you for the rest of your life.

That is a beautiful quilt. How big are the squares on that quilt?

This is very eye catching exploding star and an excellent idea. Well done. Using up your scraps as well has made it more interesting. I bet someone can spend hours admiring the variety of blocks.
