Gayle...I do have a good question for you! I've inherited from an overloaded friend's stash many bigger pieces of fabric. Being a fairly new newbie to having a stash past projects, I know that you can fold fat quarters to a carboard to keep them all the same size...what about the bigger pieces of fabric a yard or more??I had to come back and peek at your neat stacks and they all match no matter what the size. I've had to wash and dry these bigger pieces due to being stored in a basement...but, I have noticed after ironing them that they aren't all the same measurement of 42" across..so, folding them the same amount of folds..they do not match in the stacks...so, confess dear!! Or anyone else that has a good trick..how do you match the width of your fabric stacks???Espec. if you have yards of the fabric??Thanks from a fold'n stressed Skeat!!:))

Skeat, my larger fabrics are actually rolled around a 6 x 24 ruler, so what I do is, fold in on the fold that it was when you bought it, selvege to selvege.
Then I roll it on the ruler over the top of my ironing board, until all is on. As you slide your ruler out, fold the whole thing in half again so it will become aprox 6 1/2 ish by 10-11 ish. With less yardage but more than a fat quarter I just fold selvege to selvege, then half lenghthwise, then fold to selvege egdes half, (makes it 10-11") then I hold half again lenghthwise twice until it is about 4". (or however folds it needs to get to approx 4" wide by 10-11" long) Hope this helps. You could also use a piece of cardboard or a 3 1/2 or 4" wide ruler and roll on this as well.
Congratulations on your inheritance of fabric!! Hope you have lots of fun with it!!

I think that the 3 lab retreivers are the best picture of all. I sure miss my 2 that were always around. They have all gone over the rainbow bridge. Makes me want to get some more. No better loving dog to have.
