I have not done a block swap before, but I'd like to try this one, as I absolutely LOVE red, white and blue.

So, put me on the list for 12.5 in. house blocks. The houses will probably have the usual one door, one window, one chimney, etc.

Hi ... I hope this helps....
The soak should be in a cold apple cider vinegar water not salt. The salt opens the fibers for dying, the vinegar sets it. You will not smell the vinegar once it is dry. It is only say a fourth of a cup to a kitchen sink full of water.

I have apple cider vinegar. Do I have to refrigerate it so that is will be cold? How long do I leave the fabric in the water?

It pretty much sets the colors immediately once you put it into the basin. I have had a couple batiks fabrics run a little more. But, I continue to treat it until the cold rinse water runs clear. The darker the dye and the more dye baths they use make the diference on how much dye they have put into the fabric. Some are so overdyed that the fibers couldn't hold the extra they put on it. See what I mean?

There is a bottle of fabric setting solution that is called retain. I bought some before reading the label. It has a caution that it might cause cancer on it! Needless to say, I wasn't gonna use that! No way!
