If you haven't tried the easy dresden tool, you have to!

Well, I got my whole dresden appliqued to my block last night (including the circle!), and now I'm ready to sew two borders - one small accent one (to set off the darker block) with a darker outer border. I found the applique-ing part to be really fun, although it did take some time since I did it by hand (but time flies when you're having fun, so it was almost midnight when I realized how late it was getting!). I think this little table top quilt will fit perfectly on my treadle top. Can't wait to start quilting it!
I'm seriously thinking of making a larger dresden quilt now because it was so nice to have the handwork to sit on the couch and work on at night. I thought I'd get some of the small square plastic boxes as my 'traveling project'.
And again I say, give it a try! I can't wait to see more projects with this block. :)

I did want to post what got me started on this project. I have a ratty old dresden plate quilt displayed in my sewing room over an old ironing board. At least I THINK it's old. I wonder, does anyone know if the rounded petals were done originally or the pointy ones like the one I did? My quilt is falling apart (literally) and was rescued from a church basement.

What is the technique? You cut each of the petals using the tool, and then sew them together? Then applique it to the square and applique a center circle on it?
