I'm currently working on a very simple quilt for my brother. I'm doing a large scale Canadian flag on one side and a large scale Danish flag on the other. I plan on FMQ the words to both national anthems in it.

Wow! That's a lot of words. Be sure to post a photo when you are done.

I have a small wall-hanging in the planning stages for a friend of mine. She requested it to soak up sound in her studio where she gives Suzuki violin lessons to children. She has quite a music history herself, even entertaining with the USO in Europe during World War II in an all-girl band. Since her name is Laura, I am planning to use the song "Laura" by Johnny Mercer (1945). I want to make the first line of the song in bargello - lavendar prints, with a dark purple where the note will be.... Then I'll applique notes and Clef symbols over it. She doesn't know about the song being in it. My cousin Laura needle-pointed that song into a piano bench pad.

I don't have a picture, but I once made a quilt called "Here Comes the Sun". This was back when I only used cool colors for quilts and had to force myself to bring in warm colors. It was an excellent exercise in the appreciation of all colors for quilting.

It just occurred to me that I made another 3 quilts based on songs. One was "Teddy Bears Picnic". I also included about 80 song titles from Carlos Santana in the quilting of one quilt and a number of hymn verses in another quilt.

Not too long ago I found that being able to hear music etc in your head (assuming you are not just hallucinating) is called having an "audile immagination" and is relatively rare. I have little musical talent, but I often enjoy remembering a piece of music as I sew.

I always have some sort of music running around up there. I get songs 'caught' and for the life of me, can't get rid of them. I don't even always know all the words, I just keep hearing the tunes. I don't know about "audile immagination", but it sure is aggravating.

That 'song stuck in your head' thing is called an earworm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earworm
