Beautiful! At first I thought maybe the birds were embroideried on the background fabric, but then I saw the back of the quilt and realized that it is the fabric. Beautiful fabric! A very, very beautiful quilt!!

Hobbs makes many different battings in different thicknesses (as do other companies) giving a choice to us quilters as to the look or feel we want to our finished quilt. I keep Hobbs poly on hand for the quilters who want a little puff to their quilt and Hobbs 80/20 on hand for those to want a more flat, vintage look to their quilt. In my area I find that more customers prefer the 80/20 over the poly as they like the flat look but want the quilting to show. I also find that in my area the Hobbs 80/20 is preferred over Warm & Natural for economic reasons.

I love your quilt. Just curious, did your mom buy the fabric with a pattern in mind or did you come up with the pattern using her fabric. And if so, how much of each color of fabric did she purchase?
