Sheri -
A package of 15 cotton candy sets and 10 batik twists is on its way to TX

Can you pleeeeease send some of that wonderful TX rain this way?? How has your place been holding up? Our DIL's fam lives in Denton - much of their yard is history and they were pretty lucky because I understand other places have been receiving a bit more water than they!!

Default Candy storage

I hope this photo attaches. I have never posted a photo before! ;-) I recently bought this box to store my candy squares. My husband cut plastic strips for dividers and it has really helped me to organize all these squares. I purchased the box at Wal-Mart in the office supply section. The drawers are 8 1/2 x 11", the size to hold a sheet of copy paper.

That looks like a good storage solution Cyndy. I've got a couple of those but no room. I just sold the regulation pool table though, 6' x 9' so that will free up a bunch of space. Don't need that big of a cutting table so am excited the guy will pick it up about the 10th of June. Maybe then I can even paint my sewing room and rearrange it a little.

happylab, I love your storage method, I have my candy in old pickle jars. lol I think they look cute. -the pickle smell, of course.

Cre8tvlwyr, we're building an arc in our back yard!!...not really, but maybe we should consider it. We watched Lake Granbury go from sandbars in the middle of the lake, a good 20 feet low, to FULL FULL FULL in just a couple of weeks. I'm sure all y'all have seen the news of all the flooding all over the state. It's kinds of scary when the storms roll in every afternoon. We're on a good hill where we are, I don't anticipate my house flooding. (Don't anticipate, being the key words there.) I hope your son in Denton is safe with his family. Another few inches are falling as I type, just south of him, with flooding to the car windows. I just don't get people driving through it, sure they will make it to the other side. Nope. But it's the surprise water, like in Houston that hurts the most. Remember, Texas is a HUGE state, and nearly the whole of it has been saturated in just a short time. I know it spreads north to Oklahoma and up through more states as well. My prayers are with you all. And yes with those areas still in droughts. I wish you rain, but just not all at once!!! <3

Glad you are ok, Sheri!! It's our daughter-in-law's family that lives in Denton and her sweet mom said they are considering investing in a sub
As for our son and his family - they live just fifteen minutes away from us and we are all praying for just a bit of the sky to fall - drought conditions in this state have caused our governor to order a 25% reduction in use. We can only water our landscaping Monday & Friday - which is fine. The challenge at our house is cleaning our raptor enclosures, which can only be done with water - wish it were cheap to bring nonpotable water out.

YAY for all those pkgs arriving -was hoping we wouldn't have to go help fish them out

no actual "cages" they are non-releasable raptors because they all have specific injuries for which we had to build special housing with their disability in mind. the three Eastern screeches can each only see out of one eye, in fact the two grey ones had to have the "blind" eye removed due to further damage. they are fully flighted, have fair size enclosure with safety "door" and we put food and all necessities in same location. There's ample perching, nest boxes. Radar - who my daughter is holding - is a prairie/gyr falcon, a very sweet, sad case I can't get into, who suffers from ptsd. He can't fly and is in an enclosure (all are primarily wood not cages; they're at www.wingsofdiscovery.net). I'm going off quilt track!! big brother doesn't like that - but I will take quilting suggestions as my daughter wants me to make a quilt with her birds on it either painted or with fabric.
