I have to agree with everyone else, what an eye for color and your workmanship is out of this world. Very beautiful. I'm pretty new, and have a question. You say put the stips on 4 at a time? I do not understand the stips in the toppers. (sry) Thanks

My pattern is called "Twisting Star Table Toppers" by Carla Brinkman.
But there is another "New Toppers" topic and in that one someone posted this link..it is similar but not quite the same as the one I did. Hope this helps

Octagonal Topper Tutorial
Caroline1947
Missouri

For some reason the pictures did not get coppied along with instructions. Sorry, seems the best I can do tonight. Maybe I can think of a better plan tomorrow.
Here is a tute for the toppper as requested. If you need a pattern for the Octagon,I will send you one simply cut from newspaper, which you can iron onto a piece of freezer paper to make it studier. I will cut one and send you if you SEND A SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE...PM me for my address.

OCTAGONAL TOPPER TUTE

( Pardon the purple marks on my ruler.Little hands did it!!(: )

STEP 1

You will need an Octagon and 2 sets of strips. My strips are 1 1/2 " wide for the first round, and 3 1/2" for the second round.

Step 2
sew 4 narrow stips to opposite sides of octagon (these are about 7 inches)

Step 3 trim off at an angle, lining up edge of ruler along edge of octagon..do second narrow sides the same way

Step 4 square off all sides to 1 inch, lining up edge of ruler with edge of octagon

Step 5 add second set in same manner, but trim by lining ruler on FIRST STRIP instead of octagon

Step 6

do opposite sides and trim before adding second sides...NOTE that the first strip will be narrower .This will match up after you sew on remaining sides.

Step 7
Now trim final corners, lining ruler on edge of octagon again,,,mine trim off at 4 inches

Step 8
You are ready to quilt....do not do anymore trimming until quilted,,,then line ruler up along egde of octagon again and trim all sides to 3 1/2 You are done and ready to bind.

These are my measurements,,,you may make wider or more strips as desired. Enjoy!!
