I definitely use the idea when I have to trace for applique. However, I bought a small battery operated stick on light (the kind you can put in a closet or small area) Then I purchased a clear plastic storage container at Walmart. I turned the container upside down, put the light (on) under the container, lay the pattern on top of the container, and paper or fabric on top of the paper and trace away. Works like a charm and costs less than $5.

Carolyn, if you need to trace a pattern onto fabric for applique fussy-cutting, the light under the pattern will make it possible for you to see the pattern through the fabric. Then you just trace it off. It makes it so easy to cut those shapes out from fabric. :-)

I use my glass-top coffee table, with my OTT lamp underneath it, pointed up.

Yes I have a light box that my kids used when they were little. They are now in their 40's. It is the only toy I saved except for Barbie & GI Joe. Must have had ESP.

I also use my table and light for tracing applique pieces.

Yes, I bought one at a craft store. I use it some and my granddaughter barrows it a good deal. I love to applique so find it helpful.

My hubby bought a projector at an auction for me, thinking I could use it. Can I use it as a lightbox, maybe for the wall? It's a nice one that you can move up and down with a twist of a knob. Does anyone know, use or have one?

I bought one of those craft carry boxes from JoAnn's, you know like for scrapbook paper, bought a battery undercounter light and it works great. I travel for a living and I can put my project in the box and work in a hotel - works great for me and was really cheap!

I use a sunny window when the weather cooperates. Have also used the washer with a plexiglass sheet laid over it and a trouble light inside, large dishpan with florescent light inside and plexiglass sheet over it.
