Boom 34 Roses

A CArrie Nation Block for WMU Teach. I always try to do one of these each boom. For some reason these blocks are challenging for me. But it’s getting to be an easier block. I am so slow at piercing. I also realize this can be a two color block. I always have trouble coming up with block patterns for that.

Wow it is an impressive 44 degrees here.
MJP your blocks are lovely. Remember how far you have come on your piecing, you are doing great. Certainly hope your body can tolerate the meds for years to come my friend.

Good morning, Roses. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. The girls are here. We had a fabulous night with both sleeping their best yet. This morning was waffles with little helping hands. Now they’re playing happily with each other. If only every day were so easy.
MJP, your piecing is terrific! You should be proud of your accomplishments. I also find it difficult to cut into certain fabrics, especially florals and anything with people. I dread a disembodied head here or there. Lol
Enjoy your Sunday.

Happy Sunday! The thunder, lightning and monsoon rains are here. Flash flooding will keep me home.
As we get older, we encounter all the health issues of our family and friends. Thankfully I can "google" all the medical to understand what is happening.
Got my lavendar/purple stash out and found the perfect matches. I liked how the rose came out for Susie and I don't get to use it often so made you one. Hope you like it

TG , your rose is superb with that touch of yellow in the center And the star is terrific as well. We were in Arizona last year in Globe where some of the flooding was this weekend. So sad. It’s just a year ago that we were discovering how badly Helene damaged WNC. Glad you are safe at home.

A picture of my activities of a couple of days. The change of seasons brings many requests for Christmas cookies. And everyone expects a tin full for their birthday. One birthday last week and another next week. So 320 cookies baked and frosted. But today I think I might need to stir up another batch next week.
The purple blocks are all beautiful. And such a variety. TG that rose is wonderful. Thank you to all for your work on my quilt. I had a block picked out for WMUTeach, but I’ve forgotten where I stored it! I have a couple more possibilities before I switch to another choice!

TG beautiful purple blocks
GramE yum your cookies look delicious.
Janice you go girl. I had 2 goals today and one was to finish my binding. After church we ended up talking to hubby’s nephew for an hour about his parents health problems and they have decided assisted care needs to be in their immediate future. This is his sister who lives by us in Texas. Not news we were expecting. After that we headed to a winery to hear a friend sing and before I knew it the sun had gone down. So no binding.

Sorry I’ve been MIA. Had some medical problems that kept me away from the board. The boom blocks and quilts are inspirational!
After I had my heart attack we had a hospitalist doctor who came and visited the house. When queried he gave me the likely scenarios of how I would die. I’ve made a lot of decisions ahead of time of what care I want. My cardiologist told me, when I can’t tolerate my meds anymore it will be downhill from there. I’ve already made decisions to not take one of the recommended class of drugs (with my husbands concurrence). And they’ve had to replace another drug with a shot I get at an infusion center. While I wouldn’t wish this on anyone , there is some comfort in being able to make these type of decisions in advance and having a family who supports you.

With our friend just passing it has really hit home to get our affairs in order and discuss everything with our kids. We currently have all our ducks in a row for our estate. BUT if we make Texas our primary residence ( financially a better decision) everything will have to be redone. Then if we get to the point we can no longer go back and forth Minnesota would be our state of choice. Decisions decisions.
GramE loved working on your block, purple is my favorite color and I do love florals

My husband is dealing with this issue with his father. My father n law had his final wishes all mapped out and my husband is the POA. He is getting grief from his brothers and sisters with his care. The Dr's want to put him on hospice and have him live in the nursing home. Since the fall and broken hip, he has fallen 3 more times. He tries to get up and go to the bathroom and he is not strong enough, then falling. He has hit his head twice one time needing stitches. The family wants to bring him home thinking he will get better and be safer, but nobody can take the time to stay with him and keep him safe. We can't afford in home nursing. Not sure what is going to happen, they have to decide by the end of the week.
