I love Riccar. Long cord, lightweight, and cleans well.

I really like my light weight Miele Neptune, but I have mostly hardwood and area rugs. One drawback is that the bags are small and seem to fill up too quickly.

I have a nice Oreck and a small hand one. Between the two they are perfect and so light weight. Works for this old lady.

Roomba IRobot. I "poke go and go sew"! the roomba does it all for me. Once a month or so I take my hand me down hoover for a spin through the house, but seriously, the roomba does a good job. You can even program it to start on it's own on a regular basis.

I have had my Dyson for almost 7 years, and have never had it in for repair. I bought a lower end Miele 300 for my quilt room downstairs and I hate it!

The head is very awkward to use, and it does a poor job on carpet. I have mostly laminate, but have some large throw rugs that can't be picked up and shaken. I will give the machine one thing though, it is pretty quiet. It they made a power head for it, it would be fine.

My DH likes the Kirby the best. They are expensive though, about 1200.00 We have had ours for 38 years and is still like new.
