Plaid. The blue looks better with just one square showing but I think the plaid would add more interest to the whole quilt. The blue would seem too bright and plain for an entire quilt. Butr then again what do I know? LOL

I think the little voice you heard in selecting the blue was "right on" as I too prefer the blue with red binding. I think so many times we question ourselves when "our gut" automatically leads us down the right path. It's going to be stunning!

The plaid brings that fabric out to the outside and makes the whole piece together, instead of a bulls-eye effect in the center of the star.

The solid brightens it up but the plaid gives it an older look. I vote plaid!

The plaid, everything but the plaid reads as a tone on tone, the plaid adds some oomph. JMHO
