I bought the Aurifil doorbuster set at the tristan site. I have bought a lot of the doorbuster sets when they are 50% off. And there are some great buys on grab bags of Aurifil thead. I use the 50# for piecing. The Aurifil has a poly thread called Aurilux.

Here is an article which touches on the myth of polyester being inferior to cotton.

She didn't SAY it was inferior. Just what she uses and was taught to use.

well, that was an education. Is this cotton thread better than Coats and Clarks?

Yes, Superior cotton thread is made with extra long staple Egyptian cotton so it is much stronger then Coats and Clarks. The staple is the pieces of cotton that are put together to make the thread. Stands to reason that 3" pieces of cotton would be stronger than 1" long pieces. The longer the pieces of cotton really make a lovely, strong thread that is great for piecing as well as quilting. I don't use C&C any more, not even for clothing repairs...it feels fuzzy to me. Check out the different thread with a magnifying glass...short staple is fuzzy and extra long staple looks really smooth.

Not affiliated with Superior Threads, just a VERY happy customer AND I do have my PhD in Threadology from Dr. Bob!

I too only use this one; natural, black or gray colors. Red if I absolutely have to.

How is it coming off the spool? Off the top or off the side? Invisible thread needs to come off the side of the spool so it doesn't twist up.
