Definitely black and red. My sister and I are working on a Thinking Outside the Block quilt right now for our Aunt. I hope it turns out as well as yours. :D

I really like either border choice; and LOVE the pattern on the whole. I'm a log cabin girl. And now want to try this one. BEAUTIFUL

I like the red and black. I never put white or a light color for a border or binding. This is the section of the quilt that is handled and would show stains. Great quilt top. :thumbup:
