I wouldn't call them weeds. Lots of wildlife, especially the birds, use them as shelter. We would find deer beds below the trees. These can grow 15-18 ft tall.
Was fun to read your response, as my friends and I made forts under the Sumac trees too, as children.

Thank you for sharing. The plants are so vivid and beautiful such a calming effect. Looks like a tree of some kind to me.
