You always learn by the mistakes you make. That is what learning is all about. I think it was awfully brave of you to tackle this type of quilt as your first one. My DH husband said it wasn't awful, but quite impressive for your first one. I think you did a great job. A big pat on the back. I always look at a quilt top closely when I finish and pick out what I don't like about it. Then I concentrate on ways to make it better next time. Please finish it and show us when you are done.

This is great. Love the colors and designs and as for seams not matching I have been doing this a long time and I still have that problem.

unless you plan on entering it into a show, no one looks that close at it. from a distance it is very nice, the color scheme is really good. Don't be discouraged (we all have at least one quilt top we hate in our closet)

Ditto! And if this is your first effort, you should be proud of yourself!

Put a nice red print border and a black print border on it and she'll be good to go. I like it!

You've just stared at the project too long.. I think it's SHARP LOOKING! Quilting will hide it's minor flaws, and then you're going to love it. My very first quilt was a class sampler... and the class was several months long. By the time that class was done I was soooooooooooooooooooo tired of that quilt. I love it now, but I sure didn't then. Love the quilt... pet the quilt... snuggle under it when it's done. You need to BOND with it...LOL

I like it. Not ghastly at all. Be sure to show it off after you are finished.

When I made my first TennesseenWaltz quilt, it bugged me that some of seams and corners didn't match on the stars. Then I was watching E. Burns' Quilt in a Day program that featured TW quilts. The camera zoomed in on Eleanor's- and guess what? Not all of hers were perfect either. I thought if she could show hers on TV, then I would be proud of mine too! Your quilt is pretty awesome BTW.
