I always sew barefoot. Don't know if I could do it with shoes on. I need to feel exactly how much pressure I'm applying besides it's just so much more comfy.

I sew barefoot, in socks, in slippers, in shoes - I guess I'm not fussy about what I wear on my feet when I'm sewing.

I ALWAYS have to wear shoes when I quilt or my feet go crazy, hurting so much... :-(

It's true though, you actually CAN control the foot pedal with shoes on...when forced!

Sadly, I'm with you. I used to be barefoot all the way, until developing a neuroma (luckily only in one foot, I can't imagine both). Now I have to have shoes on all the time...though I do cheat when sewing.
Oh gosh, I'm suffering with Mortons Neuroma in both feet. I was doing the alcohol shots up until last month and all of a sudden had an alergic reaction. I was up to 7 in the right and 3 in the left. I broke out and the swelling was awful, the balls of my feet were so swollen it was like trying to walk on two golf balls. I may end up with the surgery, but hear good and bad. Even though I have a great foot surgeon.

I also have really high arches. I have the other problem. I am pretty good in sandals. But even with my orthonics. the pressure that closed toed shoes put on that nerve hobbles me sometimes. I can't even make it through a trip to the grocery store. I even went to some of the best walking running shoes made really expensive. Feel wonderful the first 45 minutes and then I can't walk. The burning on the balls of my feet and toes cramping is sometimes unbearable.

I literally feel your pain.

Yep !! My right foot is definatetly "shoeless" when I sew. In the house I usually have my "slippers" on......... so, I end up with a slipper on my left foot, and barefoot on my right. ;)

I can't "feel" the pedal in shoes so it is barefoot or socks for me. I just wish I wouldn't find the stray pins the hard way.

I don't let anybody wear shoes in my house. ewwwwww
When I took a sewing class everybody made fun of me because I could not sew with shoes on. I had to take my shoe off to use the pedal otherwise I pushed it to the floor and we all know what happens then. lol

I hate shoes, if I could go barefoot everywhere I would. As soon as I come inside off come my shoes. I think they were invented by some mean cruel guy who hates women's feet.

YES! Always, and I don't care where I am either, I can't sew with my right shoe on. I need to 'feel' the speed of my foot pedal.
