Cutting & Sewing Tables in center or against wall?
#71
My sewing room is set up like kitchens are suppose to be - a working triangle. My sewing machine is in the corner, with the ironing board next to it on the right and my cutting table is behind me in the middle of the room. I like the cutting table in the middle of the room so you can move around it.

I'm lucky I have the whole basement to myself. My cabinets are up against the walls, I have 9 of them and 2 dressers all filled with fabric, and then my cutting table has six kitchen cabinets that i re finished and stained a un finished door and put moulding around it and laid it on top of those six cabinets and thats my cutting area. I have plenty of room to keep that in the center so I can walk all the way around.

I wish I could afford a cutting table - and had the room to put it somewhere...I just made two quilt tops over Christmas whilst staying with a friend. She has a new cutting table which I used first. No back - aches and very fast cutting. It was Heaven.

My sewing is against the wall, however, I cannot cut anything big here in this room. I go to my counter in the Kitchen because I can walk around it and it works out better to cut and my back is better for that height.

I have mine up against a wall because it is in a room where I keep a spare bed, two cutting tables,a rocking chair, a chaise lounge, 2 cabinets filled with material, and it is a room 2 of my sons and their friends have to go through to go to the 3rd floor bedrooms/lounge rooms. I would love to have it in the middle. I'm a little :P jealous.
