there is only one color that I don't like at all and that is a solid orange, I will use some like orange mixed with other colors like in batiks but I like all the other colors, by my favorite is purple all shades of it.

I'm going to solve the mystery of why we all like different colors. It fit perfectly into my life and I bet it will yours too.

Years ago, I had a color analysis done (Color Me Beautiful....see website) and I came up an "autumn." That means I should like all the autumn and spring colors best. Well, I do and always have. These are the colors we gravitate to, which is why we don't like the opposite "season" colors. I have a "winter" Mom and sister who love the cool, crisp colors and look fabulous in them. My Mom has beautiful white hair and has since she was about 35. My Mom always bought me navy, black, red and white..."winter" colors, and I hated them, but because they pleased HER eye, she thought they looked good on me. When I got my own earned money, I naturally went to all my browns/rusts/peach/greens that I love so much. Everyone said my skin lit up in those colors. My complexion faded to the background with the winter colors. When I asked the consultant why that was, she said that not only do we LOOK better in our colors but our eye tends to go to those colors in everything we do from decorating to clothes.

Mystery solved! Find out what "season" you are and I'll bet you say, "Yep, that has always been me."
How true. I'm an Autumn too. I gravitate to the autumn and some spring colors because they look good on me. Never did like winter colors.

I like browns but not in a quilt. I like yellow which I use sparingly as it becomes a focal point. Pink or purple is not a color I am drawn to. I like red and am now cutting a quilt that in my quilting book is called Ribbon. I am using a black and rose print (mostily black with a rose here and there and small rose buds), a black and white small print, a red and black small print (the same as the black and white) and a black, red, gray and white small stripe. I have made one black (only have 119 left) and it is quite stunning. I hope when it is done it will look nice. I am in no hurry so can take my time. Thanks for listening.

I stay away from pastels, even in baby quilts. I much prefer working with bright, lively colors.

There are very very few greens that I like. The blue/greens and yellow/greens I can live with a little, but mostly green just turns me off

I tend to like more subdued colors...don't want the quilt to jump out at me! If it's too bright, the workmanship doesn't stand out as much to me.

Cannot stand screaming orange or dark purple...I do like soft peach or apricot or orchids. Not really fond of a lot of extremes....screaming neons or dark drabs lol

I have four daughters and they never had pink anything because I hate it so. Now I have two granddaughters and, luckily, they are blue and purple girls.

A quilt teacher once told me that you should use one color in your quilt that you're not comfortable with. My first quilt which was a blooming nine patch. Orange was the color I was uncomfortable with, now I cant get enough of it. So in answer to your question really the only fabrics I don't like is 30's. I don't like the colors in those. Guess I should make one.
