I love making the top and then it takes way too much time to finish it.

My sister -in - law feels this way so she has at least 50 tops but has no intention of quilting them.... HUH? She has not quilted even one quilt... the tops just lay out on her spare bed. I just can't imagine doing this... to me they are useless. I know - that's just my opinion... :)

Maybe it is my type A personality--reads OCD -- but I would loose sleep over tops stacking up,lol. Right now I have two large tops (queen and full) that I am wanting to rent a long arm in the next couple of weeks to quilt, and I can't wait to get them finished! It is really driving me a bit insane that they are just hanging there....lol,but I need to wait....so meanwhile I am finishing this and that and waiting.....

I'm an alien, too. I love the whole process and don't feel like I've really finished until the top is hand-quilted and bound. It's a thrill to finish the top, but even better when it's all put together!

I used to but have finished 4 ufo's already since 01/01/11 my new years resolutions..couple more in the progress...so far I am doing good. What a sense of accomplishment. Maybe you could sell a few of you tops.....keep the ones you like the most and finish them......then you won't feel so bad about have so many ufo's.

I have to agree with a lot of the answers. I just tried to finish a quilt which needs ALOT of applicate work and I got so fustrated that it is now in my closet. I made up my mind that I do this for fun, even if I only do a block or two to try out a new method, or a top to add to the unfinished pile....so what! This is for enjoyment not work!

I'm on a mission this year to finish up the UFOs I like and get rid of the rest. I've sold several on the board already.

I' a topper. That's how i got my board name. I love all the steps through layering. Then i get to the actual quilting. I just can't do a decent job. I have to remove stitches because i don't like the way they look. I've had 5 quilts quilted by my friend but the others are sitting in baskets waiting for me. Maybe someday i will feel the confidence to get to the quilting part.
