Just take it a piece at a time, just like other quilting.
Remember, the rule! " the first piece that goes down is face up", the one you sew to it, and the others you sew to that, are all face down, folding each of them open and trimming, and sewing the next one.
64 pieces sounds like a lot , but it is only 8 x 8 !

I was lucky enough to recieve a doll quilt featuring that (or a shockingly similar) design as the center (about the middle of the page shown here http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-79595-21.htm#2326603) from Ilove2quilt! I look at it every day (it is in my bedroom, right above the light switch and I still marvel at how much work must have gone into it! If your sis is anything like me, she will treasure it!
