The "Now you see it ~ now you don't *sewing room* "..

A few years ago I reclaimed some space in our house and declared it MY "quilting cave". We have company m-a-y-b-e twice a year, and I do a whole lot more sewing then that! So.. we invented the redneck "wall-bed", and when people come over we just lower the mattress off the wall, and set the bed up on cinder blocks...lol You honestly cannot tell UNLESS you stub your toe on said "cinder blocks" *gasp*. We've learned to set them back a LITTLE extra because it was makin' us use our "pin ball" language.

Necessity REALLY IS the Mother of Invention. We C-clamped the head board to the wall so that when I tie the mattress/box spring to it they don't slump or fall over. When the bed is tied up I have two .99¢ flannel backed table clothes pinned on and that's my flannel wall working space. Provided I have not been working on a messy project I can go from sewing room to guest room in about an hour. I love this small space.. it's only about a 12'x12' room.. but it beats dragging all my stuff out to the kitchen table. Also, company is WELL aware that they are sleeping in my sewing room. The women love it because it's full of magazines and other great craft books...and the guys get a big kick out the concept. We cracked ourselves up when it was done....lol

    Orangeroom...

Love your creative space! Bright colors to keep you up and going! Also loved that quilt you've got on display. Awesome colors and soooo pretty! I'm stuck with white walls for awhile.

I also LOVE to see peoples working areas. I have two friends with full blown quilting studios. Trust me...that's a far cry from what I have, but it was beyond fun making our guest room into a dual purpose room. I hope more people will share photos. I saw some segment on a TV show a few years ago where a lady trucker was creating amazing quilts in the little SLEEPER area of her 18 wheeler. I knew right then I had a WHOLEEEE lot more space then she did...and that's what launched my sewing room make-over.

Here's a few more photos of the room. I left no space open.. every inch is utilized.

Bedhind the door peg board etc. This was when the room was new. You cannot SEE the pegboard anymore...lol

Highmnt, very creative! I've moved mine into the garage so I don't have to put everything away.
