Glad this holiday is over

I so understand. I also was not prepared. It only felt like Christmas when everyone was home for the Holidays. I wish we celebrated more and worried less about presents being just right! As my gs grows I think we will be able to scale back a little more. Looking forward to a New Year! Luann

I agree with the over-commercialism of Christmas. My BFF make a pact with her family that this year-no gifts other than from a thrift store!
What a great idea...let's make Christmas about love, and family, and CHRIST...not gifts!!
Glad its done too!

Bummer
I guess Christmas was a bust for many of us. We didn't decorate till late and only half of what we usually do. I think because of the money situation for all of us, had a big effect on our feelings. Also i think so many of us have lost the real meaning of the day. That is always in the back of my mind. With all the shopping and baking there is no time for Him. It really was a bummer this year.

Remember when the holidays were just about spending time with family and friends, decorating the christmas tree with hand made decorations? For my family, adults got some t-towels or something else useful, kids received some little toy, teenagers got a necklace or bracelet from the dime store. We never returned anything to the store because we didn't like it.
The commercialization of the holidays takes all the fun out of it, I get so tired of hearing Christmas carols from Halloween to New Years. I only listen to them Christmas eve and Christmas day-that's enough.

Im right there with all of you. On Dec 7 (my birthday no less) My father started to have a series of small TIA By the 9th he had a full blown stroke. The blood clot form in between the two hemisphere of the brain so it affected both sides of his body. On the 15th he died. I just couldn't bring myself to celebrate the season. This is the first time Christmas that is was work to get through the season. I'm glad that my dad is in a better place but I still miss him. Im hopeful that next year will be better.

Well said, I usually have all my baking done by end of Nov., Most gifts bought, house decorated, tree goes up first week in Dec. This year everything was late, no spirit & shopping the pits, could not find anything I was looking for. Over all it got done & was a great Christmas.

I can't wait for it to all be over. I developed a nasty case of shingles the first of the month and just as I thought it was healing, I got a second round of blisters for Christmas! I'm so tired of it--I want out of this nightmare and could I please have a do-over?

My family always goes to my sisters house for Christmas, for the past twenty years. She does not let anyone watch tv whle we are there so my husband starts complaining right after Thanksgiving. So YES, I am very glad the holiday is over. This year I finally told him I would not be mad if he stayed home. I don't know what I am going to do next year.
