Love your ideas! My DH made my cutting table out of old kitchen cabinets and some plywood. I just dressed it up with paint and fabric and it works beautifully! My sons made a "Big Board" for my ironing board out of some plywood and batting and fabric. You can do alot with just a little, especially with the internet to get directions on how to make anything yourself these days. By the way welcome to the QB from Ohio!

I particularly like your use of the drain pipe to hang your strips! What's that saying? Necessity is the mother of invention...you needed, you invented! Great work!

What a terrific job ! I love it when people come up with ingenious ideas. As they say "necessity is the mother (or in your case, the father) of invention. Love the tiles.

I also have an old desk with a return (remember those?) It's where we used to put our typewriter. It is the perfect height for the sewing machine - and the main desk is where I have my cutting mat.

You did a great job and we all thank you for your pictures. I just want to tell you to go to a thrift store or Walmart and get yourself a good desk chair that adjust better for your back and body. Chairs are very important ! Thanks again.

As an artist, I have to say, get some homesote, cover it with felt (coupon, Joann's) and put it on the wall in front of the machine. It would make a great design wall, pin up blocks, ideas, fabrics, and be inspiring when working. Makes the basement fade away and make it a true work area.
