Marilyn,
Thanks for the info. I counted the blocks in your illustration, and that is where my confusion came from,
after looking at it again if you make the set 5 x 6 as
you stated that takes care of the partial star blocks that
I took, as the full size of the quilt. I should have been
a bit more thorough in my counting as your instructions
stated. Just saw where the drawing left off and did not
take that into account, only saw the drawn 1/2 blocks, this
is so much easier to figure out. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Can't wait to pull the fabrics for the
quilt and get started, so I to can have one of my own.
Can you get the numbers needed for each color from one
strip of the colored prints? Have not done the math yet.

I'm not sure what you are asking in the last paragraph. Are you wondering how many different colors it takes to make it, if you don't duplicate colors? or maybe, What to cut out of each color while you have it out? I have the amounts of what to cut for each block which I will write so people understand it and post that shortly. I can count how many colors if that is what you want. If it's something else, please let me know.

Alright everybody. I have written it out and made a diagram for you on What to Cut. I hope this helps everybody. To print a copy of these, just right-click on the pictures, then select Save Picture as, and then the usual dialog box will come up to save it in "My Pictures". Just rename it if you wish, pick the folder to save it in and click Save.
Happy Quilting!

This is What to cut for the Northern Lights quilt, set 5 x 6 blocks. I hope this helps everybody. 6-9-10

This diagram shows the placement of the blocks that have all 4 sides surrounded by setting blocks, which ones only have setting blocks on 3 sides and the 2 top corners that only have setting blocks on 2 sides. It also shows the 11 setting blocks (uncolored) where you will pick out whatever colors you want to use.

I already posted one message for you but Here is another, in answer to the question above. I just posted a complete diagram, right above this, with cutting instructions. I hope this helps. If that's not what you were asking, please let me know.

I've been following your posts about this Northern Lights quilt since you first started posting and have eagerly read each set of instructions. It has moved closer to the top of my Wannado list - right after the patriotic quilts I'm making for my grandchildren. :)

Oh BTW, do you know that I am posting pictures of all of my blocks on the topic "The start of another quilt by danmar"?
Here's a link to it if you want to see all the blocks I've made so far. I just finished the last star block. I have 4 setting blocks left to make.
