It depends on whether I buy fabric at the quilt shop of Wal-Mart. I can get all the fabric for a "quilt of the month" at Wal-Mart for less that $30. Our LQS has a lot of half price sale fabrics and that's usually where I start looking first.

I agree. I don't think I want to know. LOL. When my DH asks me how much it costs me, I simply reply, not a thing, I had all the fabric in my stash. Saves me lots of explaining. I hand quilt mine, don't know anyone who will do it with longarm, all the costs are so spread out who knows? I think I will keep it a secret.

I spend between 300.00 and 500.00 for everything. I usually do twin or lap quilt. I love pretty fabric and I only buy from LQS.
When my husband gives me the eye as I walk in with yet more fabric, I always remind him that I don't go anywhere and don't spend money on anything but quilting and books. The other day he said "Maybe it would be cheaper for you to take a couple of trips around the world."

I use about 5 yards for backing sometimes alone, so 50 bucks just on backing...I can easily spend 200 to 300 on a quilt

I certainly don't want to know. The cost of fabric here is quite high so I would rather not add it up.

I usually hand or machine quilt myself to save on costs and keep an eye out for "specials".

Most of my quilts are for family or "occasion" gifts so I am prepared to spend the $s.

That's really cheap. I just got a smaller than twin size quilt back from a longarm quilter and it was $150 plus shipping. When I send her my queen size quilts I expect to pay at least $300.[/quote OMG I wondered how much they charged! I love my family but they will just have to settle for however I myself can quilt it!

Any where from 150 to 500 for me too. That's just fabric. Backings are usually around 50 to 100 just by itself. I shop LQS mostly. I get about 5% of my fabric from joanns.
