That is a great way to show appreciation to them. I am sure the quilts will also remind them of pulling together at such a fragile time!

the fact that your brothers & you were willing to make the sacrifices necessary to fulfill your mom's last wish, and the fact that you all appreciate each other so much, shows that your mom & dad raised you right. i'll say a prayer for you all tonite.

The first one looks like the one I slept under as a child
in the mountain state of West Virginia. I remember looking
out the window at the steep hill behind the house with the
moon coming up over it and thinking that Grandma had
made the quilt just for me. I'll bet now that it was made
about the time my Mom was a child. The name of it was
Moon Over The Mountain. A beloved old pattern.
Really takes me back, just looking at it. Strange how a
picture, an odor, a sound can suddenly erase all the years
since it was first noticed.

These quilts will be treasured for all their own lives,
and bring back memories of your Mom that all of you
loved so much. She must have been a terrific lady for
all of you to step up and do all that work just for her.
What goes around comes around, so you're putting up
treasures for your later lives.

Those are truly gorgeous. I LOVE the quilting on the mountains -- was that free motion? or longarm? (I'm pretty new to all this, and machine quilting is my current challenge!)

Seems that you are lucky to have wonderful brothers, and they're lucky to have you!
