What a lovely idea! That is a very pretty heirloom christening gown you crafted. I am positive your friend was very very pleased. We never use those gowns again and our kids sure don't want them (not like way back when I think it was expected and desired). Recycling at its ultimate finest!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful - and did I say it's beautiful. I've never done that to mine. My daughter wore the one I bought for our niece, as we were the Godparents. There is someone at our church who made a christening gown out of her wedding dress; and I understand it was beautiful.

That's a beautiful christening gown. My only thought about making a christening gown out of a wedding gown is that I can't imagine trying to hold a squirming baby in a satin dress. Hard enough to hold them in regular clothes. My DDIL wanted something out of the leftover fabric from the wedding gown I made her so I made her a silk quilt; in my avatar. The white border is the leftover fabric, and the rest is silk I have collected over a couple years to make it.
