My stash is spread out over several rooms, doesn't take up the entire room. But let's say I've got enough to open my own shop and have machines for a crowd to come for a sew-in. :shock:

I wouldn't have to buy much fabric if I'd just utilize what's in my stash. But, I always manage to see something that really catches my eye when I get around fabric stores. The key is to try to keep away from stores. I'm going to try to use what I have and see how creative I get.

I like all your specialty fabric collector names. How about "textile specialist"?

when I heard that cotton was going up almost double, I told DH well something always happens too any hobby I start. Guess I will quit this one too cause I couldnt afford the prices before and I sure can't afford 5.95-9.99 and up for any material and I started too late too build a stash!!!!

Would it do any good for quilter's to really cut back on buying? I know quilt shops need to make $$$$ but there has to be a stopping point when it comes to the price of fabric. I am really having to 'need' to order fabrics now at $10 a yd. I think that is a bit out of range for a yd of fabric. Maybe a boycott could be in order? How high will they go?

I have enuf material and kits to last me several years of sewing. My only problem is, i love wovens and I never have enuf of that. I guess I will have to power buy before it goes up to keep me going for awhile...LOL

I am like you, but I always seem to not have the fabric I need for a project and need to buy more.

Why can't we buy just what we need for a specific pattern , is there anyone out there that does this or are most of you like us.

Well... in terms of supply and demand driving prices... I don't really think a boycott of quilting fabric is going to accomplish much.

I would guess that a whole lot more cotton goes into the manufacturer of T-shirts than quilt fabric. And while only a few folks have an overabundance of fabric, there are probably LOTS of people who have too many T-shirts in their closets.

After all, who're you going to boycott? Those fabric manufacturers who raised their prices again? No, you'd actually boycott a fabric store (or stores). And it's not the store(s) who started the price increases.

I suppose if we can't give up fabric buying, we could all postpone buying new towels, sheets, and underwear for a year.
