My sewing machine got an attitude today and I couldn’t figure out what was happening. I was winding a bobbin, I didn’t have to change thread just thread the bobbin move it over and hit sew. Everything going fine for about 45 seconds, then the oddest screeching and high pitched whining started. So I stopped, and because I’m so short, I can’t see into the top of my machine while it’s winding unless I stand. I opted not to stand tonight. First mistake. Well, I’m guessing when I changed from orange bobbin to green I just laid the orange one aside. (Aside as in right next to the bobbin winder. And since I didn’t stand up to watch what I was doing, I missed it when the bobbin decided to suck up the orange thread and wind it at the same time as the green. The bobbin had a curious look. Have orange and half green. Another added feature I couldn’t just unwind the orange thread and because it was winding an orange and a green thread at the same time. So essentially I had to unwind the bobbin because there was no getting that thread off there separately. And that was today’s introduction to my learning curve. Don’t forget to stand up when winding bobbins!!

Now a question for those who take their photos with your phone. Does the size of the photo come out a different size when taken with the phone. I need to know how to resize my pics if I use my phone, Trying my best to inform myself before I begin resizing. And maybe you could share what resizing app you use. Thank you.

New cars are quite possibly more unnerving that trying to set up a new computer. Where are the right buttons, what happens if I push this button! A few years ago we got a Hyundai after hubby was in an accident and his car was totaled. It was nearly 6 weeks before I figured out how to turn the windshield wipers on. I figured out how to get them to make one swipe, I couldn’t advance any further. So I was just driving and running the wipers with the one swipe at a time button!

Good morning, Roses. GramE, I see how your bobbin could have picked up that second thread. I’ve got two spool posts on my machine and I nearly snagged the loose thread once when winding the bobbin with the other color. Guess the machine would have made a similar noise.

Thanks everyone for holding your packages. Good for you WMUTeach for finishing so early!

Got to run. I’m taking the stash this morning to the Guild.

Have a good day.

GramE - you sound like you have been having one of those kinds of days with that bobbin escapade. Sounds funny now but I know how frustrating it was while in the midst of it. And don't get me started on new technology! Even when reading through all the brochures and owners manuals (if there is an owners manual that comes with the gadget) I still can't figure things out. I had to get a new phone and I still can't figure out how to turn on the flashlight feature! Time to search online for instructions....

I can't help you with the picture issue. I take pictures with a point and shoot or use the pictures that are connected to my phone on the computer. I resize using microsoft paint.

I hope today goes smoother for you!

SBG -- I'm sorry Marty is not feeling well. Being next to you and your husband is likely a comfort to him no matter what is going on. I hope the roof on the house does not have too sharp of a pitch. Our legs are not as strong as they were 20 years ago and so it can be scary for those of us watching and those of us doing the roof cleaning.

LStew -- great blocks!!

GramE, my iPhone takes pix at about 3 megabytes. In order to shrink them, I mail them to myself and right before the email goes out, I usually select “small” or “medium” for the picture size. It takes the photos down to a better size for posting. If I use my laptop for posting, I use MS Paint to shrink them. Hope that helps.

Oh boy pictures yahoo. Great blocks Lstew, love mine.

GramE I did exactly what you did on the window shield wipers the first time it rained!

I take all my pictures on my phone. It does seem like some are different sizes. I mail the picture to myself and have a choice of three sizes to mail. I choose medium, when new photo arrives I save that and delete the old one. Then I know I can post it on the board.

Sunny and bright here and gas is $2.30 a gallon, nice. Drove 18 hours yesterday. When we stopped for the night all the decent hotels were full and we had to drive another 37 miles. We weren’t very happy travelers. Currently on toll road with speed limit of 85.

Hoping for good news on Marty.

Just back from the guild meeting although it is still going on. My gosh, almost all of the items I brought to the meeting were snapped up but I didn’t like how most of it went. Vultures. I couldn’t even get a box opened fully before they were diving in without a “May I?” or “excuse me.” Rude and pushy. I left at the break. Has this been anyone else’s experience? Good heavens. No decorum.

Glad you’re doing ok on your drive, Terriamn. Too bad about the hotels. $2.30 a gallon is sweet!

Lstew, great blocks! I’ll add them to the gallery soon.

Hoping for good news on Marty. Ernie is sending his best wishes, too.

Off to do a little scrap busting for a new donation quilt I want to take to retreat. Precutting everything then I’ll assemble there.

LStew - love your blocks - especially my RWB!!
GramE - you make me smile - you have such a way with words. I can say I have never wound a bobbin with two threads although it does sound interesting. Wonder if you could sew with two threads together - hmmm
Janice - I have seen the crazed look in women's eyes when they spot free fabric. Are you putting out the fabric individually? Perhaps put in zip loc bags and say one bag per person?

I am so tired of pressing numbers and repeating myself to machines before I can actually speak to a human. One machine had me go online and print out an address change form - but when I did, it wasn't the right one. At least many things can be done online
Enjoy your day. Thankfully my neighbor will be over in an hour for a cup of tea

I love hearing everyone tell stories about tech mishaps. Anytime I mess up my phone I have to call my daughter to come and fix it.

Janice, when I go to my knitting group, our fearless leader does set rules on donations to one per attendee. You are required to put the donation in a brown paper bag with a description on the outside. At the end of our meeting we all draw a number and go in order until all the items are gone. It has made the donations like prizes, and a lot of fun. If you want to trade you have to do that on your own time. We also have a small group, no more than 10 people at a time.
