Lildeb, have an embroidery ? for you. Was the embroidery done on the blocks before they were put into the blocks, or were you able to do them after your quilt was sandwiched and as a part of the quilting? I just bought a used machine and was hoping that somehow it could be done as part of the quilting. Marge L.
p.s. Where do you live is Mo.? My son lives in Columbia and Lori is wanting to learn quilting. Wish I were closer to help.
I know you did not direct the question to me about the embroidery but thought it might not hurt to have a few answers. I do alot of embroidery with my quilting. I embroidery my design on a single piece of the fabric measured a little larger than the block size I intend to use. After finishing the embroidery design I then cut the block out.....this way I can make sure I have the embroidery design centered exactly where I want it in the block. It is a little trickier to cut the block and then try and get the machine to center the design in that block and also may be harder to hoop the size block you need. If the design you are using is very dense you would not want to emboider it when you do the quilting and thru all layers of batting and the backing as the backside may look kind of ugly on the backside of your quilt. There are embroidery designs made that are for quilting though......and they are just lined designs with not much detail and no fill. They are more like the designs you would use with a templet except you are able to do it by machine. Hope this helps.
