I just got an attachment in an email from Facebook saying that "for your safety your password has been automatically changed".
I haven't opened the attachment yet although I'd have to if I want to see the new password.
Nor have I tried to go to Facebook yet either.

I googled the subject of the email and this is what I found.-
The email is not from FB and the claim that the user's password has been changed is untrue. The attachment that comes with the email contains a TROJAN!!!

I thought I'd pass this on.

sounds like a scam to me. do not open it. go to facebook and try to sign on. if you cannot, use the 'forgot my password' link on the sign on screen. if it's a scam, report it to facebook.

I'm sure it is a scam. I would go to facebook directly and try to sign in. If it does not allow you to sign in with your original password then go through the "forgot my passwork" motions!

lol Great minds think alike, and at the same time!

Thanks for sharing this. When I started reading your post I had a feeling it was harmful.
I used to get those from Ebay, similar stuff but I forwarded them unopened to Ebay and they were fakes as well.

Nadine yes this is a virus , do not open that e-mail , report it as spam !!! This was a alert on FB about a month ago on my page , set your Fb book to alert you of any changes to your account . I have mine set for anytime anyone post or anytime I log in, it e-mails me to my Gmail account , it is kind of a pain to put all the passwords in to log in but it makes it more secure I think. All of this can be found in your settings . Hope this helps !!!

Yes it is a scam. The bottom half of my post mentions that the attachment has a Trojan virus in it.
Why do people do this? What kind of person thinks sending out virus's are funny? Sick.
I haven't opened the attachment.
As soon as I saw the email the red flags started going up in my brain.

I wish these people with all this wonderful computer talent would put it to good use and make money honestly instead of using it for hurting others.
