Last time I checked the only rooms available are in towns close to Paducah. You'll have to drive or rent a car unless you are lucky to find a cancellation at a Paducah hotel. Thousands of quilters take over the town for a week and the town caters to the quilters. It't the town's yearly budget being made during that week so yes they love quilters! The town is very easy to drive around in, no traffic jams.

Paducah is a pretty town no matter when you visit. The river area is full of neat little shops and such. Even if you can't go for the quilt festival, the museum is great any time of the year.

I agree. I think the beauty and relaxation of Padukah would get lost during the quilt show. We've spent a couple of days at a time there just walking by the river, going to the museum and shops. Some great restaurants and Hancocks of Paducah is at least half a day!
