Today I seen 2 sewing machines at Savation Army. First one was a Necchi esperia, made in Italy and the other was Fleetwood, it had De Lusce written on motor. Does any one know if these are good machines? They were both made of metal and were in nice cabnets.

Grab them. If you don't like them, you could probably sell them for a lot more than you would pay for them in the first place. If you would ever let them go after getting used to them.

My Mother had a Necchi for probably 50 years. I convinced to buy a Janome and she swears it doesn't sew has nicely as the Necchi.

My Mother had a Necchi. It was a wonderful machine. It came in a nice wooden cabinet. She bought a Fleetwood for me when I graduated from high school. She thought it was a Necchi as they were sold at the same store. I was told my Fleetwood was a cheap knockoff. My Fleetwood was given to me in 1967. In 1998 after sitting without use over 25 years it would not sew. About 2005 I tried again, nothing. I oiled it.... Next day it sewed beautifully. I sent it to a quilt guild in Cedar Rapids, Iowa after they were flooded out and lost all quilting tools & machines. We bought a Janome 6600P for me.
I would say they will both be great machines if you oil & clean them. They will not probably be collector's items.

I know Necchi are a good reliable machine, not sure about the Fleetwood. I don't own a Necchi but my husband's family has had them.

my mother has had a necchi for many years- she loves her machine...i don't know anything about it other than she's been using it since the early 80's when she bought it at some sale at a holiday inn where they were demonstrating them- they were ones used in schools- so built to last through lots of abuse, wear and tear- and her's has lasted- i do not know of problems she may have had over the years, but it works now.

I have a necchi. It sews wonderful. Mine is a simple machine with a few decorative stitches. It sews better than the one that cost thousands.
