I am trying to hurry up a wedding gift quilt, so I am using 505 spray instead of pinning it, and the fabric for the backing won't adhere. Anybody ever have this problem? Now I have to hurry up and pin it anyway. Darn

And are you spraying the batting not the fabric?

If there is any poly in batting or the fabric it will not stick. Also I've experienced issues with fabric that has been starched and 505 not liking each other. One other thing I've had happen is with batiks, residue from the dyeing processes will cause the no sticking to happen.

If you use 80/20 batting the spray will work, but not with the high loft polyester batting. Cotton batting works great with the sprays.

spray the fabric- not the batting...and the fabric should be pre-washed= sizing and other chemicals in the fabric will keep the spray from adhering.

Yes, thank you! I, too, just purchased the 505 spray, and have a couple of quilts I want to use it on instead of pinning...

Thank you all for the coents. the fabric is cotton, the batting is Heirloom, and the top is batik. No problem with the batik, its the cotton. Maybe I'll try to spray both sides. It is washed and should be good. Can't figure it out, and sure hope I don't have to pin

I found out that it is the sizing on the backing fabric. Washed it and dried it and its now adhering fine. Sure was a mystery for a while
