I made a t-shirt quilt for my DD friend. I used a stabilizer (fabric from Hancock) and it worked good on keeping the square square. When I was finished I washed the quilt and on some squares it looked like the stabilizer had made a lumpy look on the material. What happened?? Friend still liked the quilt but I felt bad passing it on.

Looks kind of like your batting shrunk and your shirts were already washed . I think that is what happened.

did you use iron on interfacing? and how was it quilted? The shirts need some quilting on them to help stabilize.

That could be the problem but would you wash the batting ever? I just ties the quilt as I am not comfortable with but wish I could machine quilt. Thanks for all comments.
