I have two bullmastiff's that are a little more than 100 lbs. each. I would like to make a bed for each one but have no idea as to what materials and what foam I should be using. Does anyone have a pattern or know what products are safe to use for them?

For the really big boys and girls, I would reccommend you get a good sturdy baby matress...much cheaper than a dog bed from Petsmart!! You can cover it with a good indoor/outdoor canvas fabric by using a pattern like you would cover a pillow or just cover them with a large king size blanket that you can toss in the washer and dryer when needed

Check with you local matress store. They sometimes get rid of their memory foam blocks. The bigger ones are a great size and they make AMAZING dog beds. I have a great dane that loves his!

Make a pillowcase for the baby mattress...but, put velcro at the opening so that it closed when on.

I bought one of those "egg crate" style foam mattress pads at walmart and plan on cutting it to size and then just sewing a cover for it out of cut up blue jeans for my 90+ lb dog.

I agree my girl friend has a great Dane she went to a thrift store and got a baby mattress and covered it. Of couRse she preferred her masters bed but when she moved back with hubby then she had to sleep on the baby bed!!

We have a mastiff and he has a bunk bed mattress. Right now he just has a sheet on it but I'm going to make a cover out of duck cloth.
